FreeDOS sounds great for retrogaming, but it’s also got me thinking

Like, how could have DOS evolved for Modern Desktop Computing including better graphics and video WITHOUT the fuckery from Microsoft, and I now wish there was something like an Open Source DOS project that was about catering to that fantasy, no matter how unlikely it could succeed.

(ReactOS doesn’t count, there’s no point of having a Windows clone if we have WINE anyway.)
